Variete Evening, Apollo Theatre in Düsseldorf
Location: Düsseldorf (travel time, approximately 45 minutes)
Date: as requested
Participants: 506Almost 40 years after the last curtain call in the Düsseldorf variete theatre ‘Apollo’, Roncalli’s Apollo variete on the Rheinufer opened its doors in 1997. Under the direction of Bernhard Paul, the founder of Circus Roncalli, artists from around the world have presented their colourful acts in the first new building for German variete every evening since the end of the war.
The love for amazement, dreams, and laughter: that is variete in the Apollo. The regularly alternating show in the classic variete style shows old and new facets of a colourful and magical world of theatre, on a backdrop of the most modern of light and sound technology. David Shiner, Robert Kreis, Götz Alsmann, Avner Eisenberg, Roncalli-clown Fumagalli, Roy Gardner, Anthony Gatto and naturally Konrad Thurano, at 92, the oldest active artist in the world, have counted as the highlights in Roncalli’s Apollo variete. It’s no wonder then, when guests rave: “The person who visits the Apollo variete always comes out in a much better mood than when they went in.”
A fantastic view of the banks of the Rhine and Oberkassel, a breathtaking mixture of acrobatics, comedy, juggling, and music, as well as good food invite daily at Roncalli's Apollo variete under the Düsseldorf Rheinkniebrücke (Rhine Knee bridge). And, for those who would like to try everything at once, a ’Show & Dine’ Arrangement is the optimal choice.
