Helicopter Adventure
Location: Bonn/Hangeler (travel time: approximately 25 minutes)

Participants: 15 people
Rally logistics: Either for the directing, for the emergency medical treatment, for the search and recovery of missing persons, or for the press. You will actively experience these tasks in collaboration with the team in the air and on the ground. Experience what it means to control a helicopter yourself. Navigate and direct the ground-team from the air.
Concept
In this variation, the participants will experience the full helicopter programme, from flying themselves (Heli Experience Flight) to an air search for emergency signals (Heli Search + Rescue). The ground-team will be guided to their checkpoints — by foot or in an all-terrain vehicle — using radio or satellite navigation.
1. Heli Experience Flight Group
One two-seater training helicopter is available with a flight instructor. Each participant will go up with a flight instructor in a helicopter for an approximately 15 minute flight. The ‘student’ will take over the controls in the air and in conclusion, will attempt to land the helicopter.
2. Heli Search + Rescue Group
After being given the go-ahead from the tower, one helicopter (a four-seater = 1 pilot + 3 passengers) will take off and be guided by the directions of the participants who will read the ‘flightbook’ and direct the course of the flight using the instructions and GPS. The goal is to find the ‘missing persons’ who are calling for help using signals from the ground. Once the bearings of the signals have been determined, the crew will transmit the coordinates to the ground team in the all-terrain vehicle.
3. Jeep Rescue Team Group
The participants will be driving one all-terrain vehicle fitted with radio, GPS, and navigation materials. With the help of data from the helicopter search and rescue team, they will search for the designated emergency signals.
4. Quad Scout Group
A team of 4 quads (four-wheel drive vehicles) is also searching for the emergency signals. The flight events require a preliminary lead-time of 3 months.
